Who We Are

The Auradicals Foundation is an independent nonprofit organization that supports and promotes human rights, social justice and socio-economic development through various programs. The Foundation started as a students’ advocacy group in 1973 on the Mount Aureol campus of Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, and was named “Aureol Radicals” or “Auradicals” for short. Radicals in this context means people who advocate for rapid and positive social change in society. The entity evolved into a foundation over the years, and is currently registered in Sierra Leone, the United States and United Kingdom. Its membership is made up of people who did their undergraduate studies at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone – the oldest western-style university in sub-Saharan Africa. The Foundation currently implements and supports programs in the areas of human rights and social justice, education, health; and advocates for democracy and good governance. It provides social services and support in various communities.
